Two minor girls abducted for ‘marriage’

Ludhiana: Two minor girls have gone missing from their house. In one case, the accused allegedly kidnapped the girl as he wanted to marry her, though her family had rejected his proposal, while in the second case it is alleged that the accused took the girl along on the pretext of marriage. In both the cases the police have registered cases under charges of kidnapping.In the first case, the police have booked a labourer, who is said to be a juvenile, under sections 137 (2) (kidnapping) and 96 (procuration of child) of the BNS on the complaint of the mother of the minor girl.A laborer said his 14-year-old daughter , had left the house in June 1 saying that she was going to ger her mobile repaired, however, she did not return home. They looked for her in the locality, but found her nowhere. Hours later, the girl made a phone call to him from the accused’s mobile and said the accused had kidnapped her.The father alleged that he came to know that the accused had snatched her daughter’s mobile and later called her to get the mobile back. When she went to him to get her mobile, the accused reportedly kidnapped her.The father added that the accused hailed from their hometown in Uttar Pradesh, and was , therefore, known to them. The accused wanted to marry his daughter, but he had rejected his proposal, after which he kidnapped the girl.Investigating officer from Jamalpur police station ASI Paramjit Singh said the police had lodged an FIR immediately after receiving the complaint. The police are trying to track the victim and the accused.In the second case, the police have booked an individual for taking a minor girl along with him on the pretext of marriage.The mother of a 16-year-old girl has said her daughter had gone out of the house on May 27, but never returned. Later, she discovered that the accused who lives in a nearby colony, took her daughter along on the pretext of marriage.Investigating officer said that a case under sections 137 (2) (kidnapping) and 96 (procuration of child) of the BNS had been registered against the accused. It is yet to ascertained if the accused was also juvenile or adult, he added.
