ERODE: The opposition cannot remain silent on murders and sexual violence as they are immediate concerns, former DMK minister S Muthusamy said on Wednesday justifying the reason for the party attacking the TVK govt despite its stand that it would allow the new govt to function without interference for the first six months.Muthusamy was speaking to reporters after garlanding the statue of late DMK leader M Karunanidhi here on the occasion of his 103rd birth anniversary. He said the DMK conducted an internal review of its recent electoral setbacks. “The reasons for defeat are being studied in detail. Mistakes and shortcomings must be clearly identified,” he said.Muthusamy highlighted welfare schemes introduced by the DMK govt, including the Rs 1,000 monthly women’s rights assistance, free bus travel, breakfast programmes and support for higher education. “But despite these measures, voters supported TVK. People must answer why they voted differently. We believe they now realize the value of these schemes,” he said.He dismissed speculation about defections and said DMK legislators remained loyal.
