Ludhiana: Nearly seven months after the announcement of a sub-tehsil, the Ludhiana North sub-tehsil became operational on Tuesday. Punjab revenue minister Hardeep Singh Mundian inaugurated the newly constructed sub-tehsil complex in Ludhiana (North). The govt had announced the formation of the new sub-tehsil in Oct.Though the complex had been set up months ago, the appointment of a naib tehsildar was awaited. The government has appointed naib tehsildar Jagseer Singh as in charge. He also took charge on Tuesday during the inauguration ceremonies.The offices of the sub registrar, registration room, reader room, fard room, a waiting hall for the public, in addition to a canteen, are part of the complex.On the occasion, Ludhiana deputy commissioner Himanshu Jain said the Punjab govt had constructed this sub-tehsil keeping in mind the main demand of the local people, as they previously had to travel far to Transport Nagar for registrations. “Necessary staff has been appointed, and all facilities, including furniture, ACs in public areas, water, and waiting facilities, have been provided. Easy Registration staff, computers, and cameras have also been installed. The sub-tehsil is fully ready and will start functioning from Tuesday,: he added.The revenue minister said a large number of people would visit this sub-tehsil office daily for their work and this complex had been constructed for their convenience.MLA from Ludhiana North Chaudhary Madan Lal Bagga said this had been a long-standing demand of the people of Ludhiana North as they earlier faced great difficulty in getting registrations done. Now, with the establishment of this sub tehsil, the residents would be able to access facilities easily.The officials said it would also reduce the pressure on the Ludhiana East tehsil complex along with convenience for the residents of Ludhiana North, in addition to reducing the rush and footfall in the complex there, making it easier for the people as well as officials to manage the administrative work.
