Rain cools Ahmedabad’s max temp by 3.8°C in 24 hrs

Ahmedabad: Showers tamed the heat to some extent, bringing the maximum temperatures down from Monday’s 40.8 degrees celsius to 37 degrees on Tuesday, a much-welcomed drop of 3.8 degrees in 24 hours. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Tuesday’s maximum was 4.3 degrees below normal. At 22.7 degrees, the minimum temperature was 5.4 degrees lower than normal. IMD indicated that the city received 6.6 mm rainfall in 24 hours.For Ahmedabad, the Met office has forecast a maximum temperature of around 37 degrees on Wednesday. The sky is likely to remain cloudy and the city may get some spells of light to moderate rain with a thunderstorm. For Gujarat, the forecast indicates no large change in maximum temperatures in the next 24 hours. After that, a drop in temperature by 2-4 degrees for three days.An Orange Alert has been issued in Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar and Kutch for Wednesday, suggesting moderate thunderstorms and lightning.A Yellow Alert for Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dangs, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, and Botad means these cities could get moderate thunderstorms and light to moderate rain.Only some cities and towns recorded maximum temperatures above 40 degrees on Tuesday. At 41 degrees, Bhuj and Kandla had the highest maximum temperature; Rajkot recorded 40.7 degrees.
