Three engineers assault building contractor in road rage, booked

Pune: The Pimpri police on Saturday booked three engineers for allegedly assaulting and abusing a building contractor after a dispute erupted when water from the accuseds’ car splashed onto the contractor’s vehicle on a flooded road.The incident took place at the Pimpri grade separator in the early hours of Saturday. Police registered a case under Sections 126 (wrongful restraint), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). “We have issued notices to them,” a Pimpri police officer said.According to the complaint filed by a 36-year-old contractor from Ravet, he was travelling with his family through the grade separator when a car trying to overtake them near Morwadi splashed roadside water onto their vehicle.“When the complainant objected and asked them to drive properly, the driver stopped his car in front of the complainant’s vehicle and blocked the road,” the officer said.The officer added that the three men got out of the car, abused the contractor, assaulted him and allegedly threatened to kill him before fleeing. “We traced them through the car’s registration number. All three are engineers working with different firms,” he said.
