Couple dies in house fire in Bharatpur

Alwar: A couple died during treatment due to severe burn injuries, after a fire broke out in their room in Nagla Mana village under Udyog Nagar police station area in the Bharatpur district Friday.The victims identified as Pushpendra (32) and his wife Madhu (28), who were asleep at the time of the incident.According to police, the fire erupted around 8am with flames spread rapidly, engulfing the room and leaving the couple trapped inside. Neighbours and family members, after hearing their screams and noticing the flames, broke open the door and pulled them out.However, doctor’s said that both husband and wife had sustained over 85% burns. The were first taken to RBM Hospital and later referred to Jaipur, where they succumbed during treatment at Sawai Man Singh Hospital in the evening.Pushpendra’s uncle Sahab Singh said “We saw flames through the window and heard them screaming. The door had to be broken open to pull them out.”Pushpendra’s sister, Rupan, sustained minor burns while trying to rescue the couple by dousing the fire.Family members said Pushpendra worked as a school van driver, while Madhu was a homemaker. Their two children were at school at the time of the incident.Udyog Nagar SHO Pawan Yadav said a police team was sent to the spot after the incident was reported and preliminary inquiry suggests the fire was caused by a short circuit. Further investigation is underway.
