Dombivli SATIS project picks up pace, survey begins around railway station area

Kalyan: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) have initiated a joint survey of the Dombivli railway station area as part of the Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme (SATIS) project.Sources said the proposed SATIS project will involve integrated utilisation of land parcels, including KDMC building, Ramnagar and Vishnunagar police stations, and surrounding open spaces to create a modern transit-oriented infrastructure facility, including parking areas, improved pedestrian movement, organised traffic circulation.Officials said the survey is being carried out to finalise planning and assess available land parcels around Dombivli railway station precinct.With Dombivli witnessing a population boom, Kalyan MP Shrikant Shinde has directed MMRDA officials to expedite the project. Officials said the SATIS project is being viewed as a key infrastructure initiative for Dombivli’s future transport planning and urban development.
