Chandigarh: The nagar panchayat poll in Mansa district recorded the highest 84.6% voter turnout, while nagar panchayat election in Amritsar district recorded the least 53.04% voter turnout, as a total polling of 63.94% was registered in the elections to 102 urban civic bodies on Tuesday, the data released by the State Election Commission, Punjab, showed.There were 26 booths in nagar panchayat election in Mansa district where 14297 of the total 16899 voters cast their votes. In Amritsar district nagar panchayat poll, there were five booths, and 2318 of the total 4369 voters exercised their right to franchise. Urban local bodies in eight districts recorded less than 60% of the polling. These included corporations of Bathinda (58.45%), Gurdaspur (58.6%), Moga (58.34%), and Mohali (54.83%); councils in districts namely Faridkot (58.67%), Mohali (55.95%) and Tarn Taran (59.96%); and nagar panchayat in Amritsar district (53.06%). In addition to Mansa district, three other districts where urban local bodies recorded more than 80% were Ropar district (nagar panchayat polling percentage of 83.96%), Fazilka district (nagar panchayat polling percentage of 80.22%) and Malerkotla district (nagar panchayat polling percentage of 80.03%). Of the total 3500683 voters in 102 urban local bodies, 2238241 cast their votes at 3833 polling booths.
