Negligence case against mall management after staff dies of heart attack

Hyderabad: Punjagutta police registered a negligence case against the management of a mall in Errum Manzil after one of its housekeeping staff died of a heart attack on Thursday.According to Punjagutta ACP P Murali Krishna, the housekeeping staff clean the mall premises at night. At about 4 am on Thursday, Satyanarayana, 49, of Jummerat Bazar, complained of chest pain and uneasiness to co-workers.“Satyanarayana stepped out of the mall to have some water. He called family members, saying he was not feeling well. They came to the mall and shifted him to Osmania General Hospital on a two-wheeler. He was declared dead at the hospital,” the ACP said.At around 9 am, Satyanarayana’s family brought his body to the mall and staged a protest, alleging that his death was due to the negligence of the mall management, as they did not rush him to a hospital after he complained of chest pain.Police visited the mall and, at around 2 pm, shifted the body to OGH after convincing the family members that appropriate legal action would be initiated after a preliminary probe and the postmortem. “We have registered a negligence case against the management of the mall under Section 106(1) of the BNS,” the ACP said.
