Ponda: The special land acquisition officer of PWD has invited claims for compensation from owners whose land had been acquired for the widening of the Ponda–Bhoma highway.The officer has acquired an additional land of 46,308sqm for the widening of the road. A notification has been issued, with the area covering the villages of Priol, Veling, Kunkoliem and Kundaim.Suraj Ghaisas, the special land acquisition officer, said that after they receive claims from the landowners, govt will include their names in the valuation award list. The list would also include the cost of trees earmarked to be cut for the expansion work.Under the project, a six-lane flyover will be constructed between Dilasa Palliative Care Centre and the Farmagudi traffic police station. Except for the flyover, all roads will be four lanes.While Mardol and Mangueshi junctions will have 60m-wide underpasses, a 20m-wide underpass will be constructed near Vaishali Hotel at Kundaim. The major circle near GVM’s College complex would have a vehicular overpass.Union ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH) has allotted the tender of road work to GeetAsia from Gurugram, Haryana, for Rs 273 crore. However, the work order from MoRTH is awaited.
