JAIPUR: Governor Haribhau Bagde has approved prosecution sanction under the Code of Criminal Procedure against former Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) member Babulal Katara after offences related to his involvement in the leak of recruitment exams conducted by RPSC were proved. The governor earlier ordered Katara’s suspension.Earlier in March, the Supreme Court revoked the interim bail of Katara, a key accused in the 2021 sub-inspector exam paper leak and teacher recruitment paper leak cases.Katara was granted interim bail on Feb 9. The state govt opposed the continuation of the bail and told SC that Katara allegedly concealed his criminal antecedents. Sharma said around five cases were pending against him, including one linked to the Enforcement Directorate.Katara is also facing other criminal cases, including one at Sukher police station in Udaipur and another with the Rajasthan Police’s Special Operations Group in Jaipur. According to the state, these cases involve allegations of cheating, forgery, offences under the Rajasthan Public Examination Act and Section 66D of the Information Technology Act.Proceedings under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, were also initiated by the Enforcement Directorate in Jaipur.
