Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has asked party cadre to remain vigilant and prevent any irregularities by Congress and BJP during the upcoming special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana. Describing SIR as crucial for the upcoming elections, KTR directed all MLAs and constituency in charges to ensure strong coordination from grassroots booth level upwards. He reiterated that in light of controversies, debates and allegations of misuse of power during SIR exercises in other states, the party must ensure that such practices are not allowed in Telangana.Addressing party leaders and cadre through a teleconference on Thursday, KTR said that every single vote must be protected at the booth level. He cautioned that there was a strong possibility of the ruling Congress and BJP misusing their power to register bogus votes and manipulate the voter list.The BRS leader pointed out that serious allegations have emerged across the country, where, under the guise of electoral roll revision by Election Commission, lakhs of opposition votes were reportedly deleted in several states by BJP. He also reminded party members of the recent Jubilee Hills byelection and municipal elections, where Congress allegedly benefitted by adding bogus votes to the voter list.Highlighting the risks, KTR stated that both Congress and BJP might attempt to misuse the SIR exercise in Telangana as well and urged party workers to be extremely cautious. He stressed that BRS cadres must not only safeguard their own votes but also ensure that no fake or ineligible voters were added to the rolls.Explaining the importance of the SIR process, KTR said that the exercise was meant to correct errors in the voter list and facilitate the registration of new voters. He urged party workers to utilise this opportunity effectively to identify and remove bogus voters on a booth-by-booth basis.KTR announced that the party would organise training programmes for booth level agents to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills for the SIR process.He warned that the SIR exercise in the state might begin within a week to 10 days and could be completed swiftly. Therefore, he urged the party to begin preparations immediately, focusing on voter list verification, corrections and enrolment processes.
