Varanasi: The Sport Authority of India has selected four girls from villages of Varanasi district for training in hockey at its centre in Kokrajhar, Assam. Senior coaches of the SAI will train these girls at the centre.Father of Satya Yadav, who plays on centre half position, is a mason, while Sonal Singh, who plays on right position is daughter of a green-grocer. Father of Deepika Yadav, goalkeeper, is a truck driver, while Tanu Yadav, who plays centre forward, is daughter of milkman.Hockey Varanasi president A K Singh said these players took Varanasi team to victory in the Pradeshik Nehru Hockey Pratiyogita title for the first time and qualified for the All India Nehru Hockey tournament. All four players have represented Uttar Pradesh in the National School Hockey Championship. The girls receive training from Idris Ahmad at Paramanandpur Mini Stadium.
