New Delhi: Commuters travelling through west Delhi’s busy Najafgarh-Uttam Nagar stretch are likely to face major congestion for the next one and a half months as a key section under Nawada Metro Station will remain closed for road restoration work.Delhi Traffic Police said the carriageway on Najafgarh-Uttam Nagar Main Road, from Dwarka Mod towards Uttam Nagar, between metro pillar no. 722 and 723, has been shut since May 20 for approximately 45 days.The closure comes as Delhi Jal Board has begun urgent trenchless sewer line restoration work beneath the stretch. With one of the area’s busiest corridors affected, traffic movement is expected to remain disrupted during peak office and market hours, especially for commuters travelling between Najafgarh, Dwarka Mod, Uttam Nagar and Tilak Nagar.To manage congestion, traffic police have implemented diversion plans for heavy vehicles, buses, and commercial vehicles. Vehicles moving from Najafgarh side towards Uttam Nagar have been advised to divert via Dwarka Mod towards Dabri Mor. Similarly, buses and heavy vehicles coming from Tilak Nagar and Uttam Nagar side towards Najafgarh and Dwarka Mod will also be diverted to regulate traffic flow near the affected stretch.Authorities have also urged local commuters and light motor vehicle users to avoid the affected road as far as possible and use alternate routes to reduce delays. Motorists have been requested to plan journeys, park only at designated spots and cooperate with personnel deployed at key intersections. Delhi Traffic Police said real-time updates and assistance would be available through its helpline and social media platforms.
