Jaipur: Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has issued a 48-hour notice to the owner of a tilted five-storey building in Jagganath Shah ka Rasta in Ramganj, asking him to safely demolish the structure himself after a technical inspection declared it unsafe. The building has triggered panic among residents after visibly tilting over the past few days. JMC’s Kishanpole zone deputy commissioner Bijendra Singh said the corporation’s technical team submitted its report, following which a notice was pasted at the site directing the owner to take immediate action.Officials warned that if the building is not demolished within the stipulated time, the municipal corporation will carry out the demolition and recover the entire cost from the owner. The notice also states that any loss of life or property resulting from delay will be the responsibility of the building owner. As a precautionary measure, several nearby houses have been vacated and movement around the structure has been restricted. Home guards have been deployed in the area, while police personnel are also monitoring the situation.Residents said they were living in fear for days and had repeatedly demanded action against the dilapidated structure. On Monday this week, locals staged a protest outside the Kishanpole zone office, accusing the administration of acting too late despite repeated complaints. The situation has also affected nearby shopkeepers, as several shops around the building remain shut for safety reasons. Traders said the closure has hit their daily income and disrupted normal business activity in the locality.
