Varanasi: A one-day workshop and packaging distribution programme on the theme of ‘Doll and Toy’ was organised on Thursday by the MSME Development Office, Varanasi, under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Packaging.The objective of the programme was to familiarise local artisans and entrepreneurs with modern packaging techniques and to enhance their competitive capacity in the market by improving the quality of their products. During the workshop, beneficiaries of various schemes were informed that attractive and quality packaging plays an important role in boosting product sales. Better packaging not only strengthens the presentation of products but also increases their acceptability among consumers.Various incentive schemes are being run by the govt to promote the toy industry. In this context, such workshops are proving to be extremely beneficial for artisans and entrepreneurs. Beneficiaries present at the programme appreciated the support being provided by the govt and stated that through these training programmes, they are gaining knowledge of new techniques, enabling them to improve the quality and marketing potential of their products.Assistant director, MSME development office, Varanasi, Rajesh Kumar Chaudhary, and director, MSME development office, Prayagraj, LBS Yadav played key roles in the programme. During the technical session, experts from the Indian Institute of Packaging provided training to participants on modern packaging techniques.Over 200 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana actively participated in this workshop. This initiative is expected to give a new direction to the local handicraft and toy industry and strengthen the regional economy.
