Margdarshak app to help find facilities at rly stn

Varanasi: Finding services and facilities available at Banaras Railway Station has become as easy as using Google Maps, said NER divisional railway manager (Varanasi) Ashish Jain, after launching on Saturday an app that guides passengers and visitors to toilet, ramp, escalator, lift and all facilities available at the station. The senior divisional commercial manager Sekh Rahman said the advanced facility has been named ‘Margdarshak’ and it has brought a new level of convenience and comfort for passengers at Banaras railway station.Installed at the main entry near PF-8, this LED touch-screen kiosk is far more than a digital station map. It offers a live interactive map of the entire station along with a 360° virtual station tour, helping passengers explore and understand the station layout with ease.Passengers can instantly locate essential facilities such as toilets, water booths, ticket counters, lounges, retiring rooms, dormitories, etc. The system also provides smart navigation paths to selected locations, making movement inside the station smooth and hassle-free.By scanning the QR code, passengers can continue navigating on their mobile phones as they do with Google Maps. The system also includes Divyang-friendly routes with audio-visual guidance, smart warning alerts near railway tracks and a Digital Help Desk for wheelchair support and other passenger assistance requests, making it a smart step towards a safer, easier and more passenger-friendly experience.
