Rajkot: The special operations group of Devbhumi Dwarka police recovered an abandoned packet of hashish worth over Rs 61 lakh from the district’s coastline during an intensive foot patrol on Friday.Police said recently, ocean currents have led to the drug packets washing ashore along the Kutch and Devbhumi Dwarka coasts, prompting heightened surveillance and patrols.Acting on specific information, SOG police inspector V A Rana and sub-inspector D A Vala formed foot patrol teams. A suspicious packet was found at Rupen Bandar in Dwarka.Officials said the packet contained 1.23kg of hashish, with an estimated market value of Rs 61.50 lakh.The contraband was seized and a case registered against unknown persons under the NDPS Act at Dwarka police station. Further investigation is under way to trace the source of the narcotics.
