Ahmedabad: City municipal commissioner Banchha Nidhi Pani on Thursday issued a circular to all department heads and zonal offices of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) asking them to pool cars and two-wheelers and use public transport to save fuel. The circular instructs employees working in the same municipal office compound or nearby offices and living to each other to share rides by car or two-wheeler. “Those going for field visits are instructed to pool cars or two-wheelers. Officers travelling in the same direction or for similar tasks must share vehicles to avoid unnecessary fuel expenses,” the circular states.The instructions further state, “Moreover, employees are encouraged to make maximum use of public transport like AMTS, BRTS and Metro.”
