New Delhi: A series of programmes organised by the directorate of education (DoE) will shift to virtual mode following govt’s nudge to work-from-home, choose carpooling and online meetings amid the war in West Asia.This includes an interaction of education minister Ashish Sood with heads of govt schools. All directorates are aiming to hold 50% meetings through videoconferencing. Colleges have been urged to conduct select non-practical classes, guest lectures and administrative meetings online.The DoE has directed regional and district officials to ensure participation of all heads of govt schools. Meeting links and technical instructions will be shared with participants. Sources said more such measures will be seen in the coming weeks.The circular also lays down guidelines for participants, including timely login, use of official designation and school names, decorum during the meeting and ensuring confidentiality of meeting links and proceedings.The series of programmes focuses on academic planning, implementation of educational initiatives, learning outcomes and administrative coordination in Delhi govt schools.The first interaction session for east Delhi zones 1 and 2 was held on May 12 through in-person interaction. The remaining sessions will now happen virtually, according to a circular by the directorate.“Technology-enabled governance and direct academic engagement with school leadership are essential for strengthening Delhi’s public education system while also ensuring administrative efficiency and responsible public conduct,” Sood said.A total of 11 sessions have been planned to cover all 28 education zones in Delhi. The next session, covering zones 24, 26, 27 and 28 in south, central and New Delhi districts, is scheduled for Friday at 10am online.Delhi govt has launched this district-wise outreach to assess ground realities in govt schools and understand the challenges educators face, with the minister planning to visit every district over the next two weeks to engage with teachers and school heads.The initiative began with an interaction programme organised by the education department at CM Shri School in Surajmal Vihar on Tuesday, where Sood met over 90 principals and heads of schools from east district’s zones 1 and 2.
