Shillong: Meghalaya Police confiscated a whopping 30,000 explosive detonators from a Silchar-bound vehicle near the Meghalaya-Assam inter-state boundary at Umkiang, East Jaintia Hills district and arrested two persons on Wednesday.“A thorough search of the vehicle led to the detection and recovery of 30,000 numbers of explosive detonators. The explosive detonators were concealed inside two carton boxes and one gunny bag and were being transported illegally,” the police said.The two arrested occupants of the vehicle have been identified as Kamrul Ali Laskar, resident of Jamalpur in Cachar and Ibrahim Uddin Laskar, a resident of Loknathpur in Cachar, the police said.A criminal case has been registered and an investigation has been initiated to trace the forward and backward linkages of the explosives, East Jaintia Hills SP Pankaj Kumar Rasgania said.
