Mumbai: The second edition of Mumbai Climate Week (MCW) will be held in the city from February 22-26, 2027.On Thursday, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis formally released the outcome and impact report of the inaugural edition of MCW, which was held on February 17-19 this year. The reports included the various MoUs signed.During the week, conversations on food systems, urban resilience, and energy transition efforts were coordinated by cross-cutting sessions on governance, finance, innovation, and data. This ensured that ideas were discussed within the context of policies, markets, and institutions required to scale them.Releasing the report and announcing the date for the second edition, Fadnavis extended support of the government and the department of environment and climate change. “We look forward to creating high impact solutions which are citizen friendly and at the same time progressive,” he said.The second edition of MCW will focus on creating climate solution opportunities. “MCW 2027 will be about citizen participation, widespread awareness, action and implementation. We are hoping to bring stakeholders across age groups to participate in local action and climate diplomacy,” said Shishir Joshi, founder and chief executive of NGO Project Mumbai, whose initiative MCW has been supported by the government of Maharashtra, ministry of environment and climate change, Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) and BMC. It also brought together policymakers, corporates, civil society organisations, international governments and, most importantly, citizens from diverse age groups and backgrounds.Attendees included sustainability leaders from across 30 countries, including the Niti Aayog chairperson, statesmen such as Hillary Clinton, cosmonauts Rakesh Sharma, Shubhanshu Shukla, sports figures Sachin Tendulkar and Ajinkya Rane, apart from Indian leaders such as Noel Tata and Nadir Godrej.
