CHENNAI: The performance of Tamil Nadu and Chennai region dipped in this year’s CBSE results, declared on Wednesday.Tamil Nadu recorded a pass percentage of 95.25 and secured the fourth rank, falling only behind Lakshadweep, Goa and Kerala in the country. This was a dip from 98.48% recorded in 2025. As for the Chennai region — which comprises parts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Puducherry, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands — the pass percent for this year stood at 93.84 — a dip from 97.39 secured last year. Statewide, 83962 out of 88146 students who took the test passed and in the Chennai region, 95979 students out of 1,02284 students passed the exam. Girls outshined boys in state-wide and region wise performance — securing over 95% pass. Institutes-wise, Kendriya Vidyalaya schools topped in the Chennai region scoring a pass percentage of 99.12 — with 3377 out of 3407 passing the test. Independent (private) schools recorded a pass percentage of 95.13, while govt and aided schools recorded 80.96% and 71.08% each.Supplementary exams will commence on Jul 15. Candidates who have passed the board exam, but wish to improve their marks in one subject and those who have been placed in the compartment category are eligible to take the compartment exam — applications for which will be opened later.
