Ailing Maoist leader Narahari surrenders

Hyderabad: Senior CPI (Maoist) leader and Central Committee (CC) member Pasunoori Narahari has surrendered before Telangana police due to ill health and has been shifted to a hospital for treatment. Narahari carried a reward of Rs 20 lakh on his head.Narahari, 60, also known by aliases Vishwanath, Santhosh, Jagadishwar and Shankar, was active in the Bihar-Jharkhand special area committee (BJ SAC) and the eastern regional bureau (ERB) of the banned CPI (Maoist) party.A native of Somidi village in Hanumakonda district, Narahari joined the Naxal movement in 1982 while pursuing his undergraduate studies at LB College in Warangal.Fluent in Telugu, Hindi and Bhojpuri, he married Poonam alias Joba, a regional committee member (RCM) from Andhra Pradesh.According to police, Narahari had been suffering from multiple health complications for some time. He, along with his wife, reportedly surrendered before Telangana intelligence officials a few days ago.
