BJP-TMC war of words over killing of 2 in Hooghly, Nadia

Kolkata/Kalyani: The deaths of two Trinamool workers in Hooghly and Nadia on Tuesday triggered a political war of words, with the party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee accusing the state administration of remaining a “spectator” to post-poll violence.In a post on X, Banerjee alleged that “BJP-backed miscreants” attacked Trinamool worker Somnath Acharya in Hooghly’s Polba-Dadpur area under Saptagram constituency. Acharya later died at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. In a separate incident, TMC worker Tapan Shikdar, who was allegedly assaulted in Nadia’s Chakdaha, died at NRS Medical College and Hospital.BJP Rajya Sabha MP Rahul Sinha rejected the allegations, claiming the deaths stemmed from “internal conflicts within TMC”.
