Gurgaon: An ahata manager at Ballabhgarh in Faridabad was allegedly beaten to death by wedding guests after he refused to serve them liquor beyond permissible hours, a murder that unfolded just metres from a police outpost late on Tuesday night.Aadesh Yadav (30) was attacked with sticks, iron rods and stones outside a Sector 3 ahata after telling a group of men the outlet had shut for the night, police said.The assault took place around 12.30am, while a wedding function was on at a nearby community centre. According to the complaint, two or three youths first came to the tavern and asked that it be reopened so they could sit inside and drink. Yadav, who lived on the premises, came out and told them it was closed and could not be opened again.The refusal triggered an argument, which quickly turned violent. The men briefly went back to the community centre, but returned soon with more people. A group of around 10 to 12 men then allegedly descended on Yadav and attacked him with rods, sticks and stones, repeatedly striking his head and body.Sumit, Yadav’s brother, who had come from Sector 86 to meet him, was a witness to the attack. In his complaint, he said the youths also picked a quarrel with him and tried to snatch money from his pocket when he attempted to reason with them. When Yadav stepped in to protect him and explain that liquor could not be served after closing time, the group turned on him.Despite attempts by bystanders and Sumit to save him, the attackers allegedly continued beating Yadav until he collapsed. He died on the spot, before the assailants fled, police said.The entire incident happened just metres away from Sector 3 police post.Yadav was from Auraiya district in UP and had been working at the Sector 3 tavern for about two years. He is survived by his wife and four children, who live in his village.A murder case was registered at Sector 8 police station on Sumit’s complaint. Police said they are scanning CCTV footage from the area and the community centre to identify those involved. “We have already transferred the case to Uncha Gaon crime branch. The accused will be arrested soon,” said Yashpal Yadav, a spokesperson for Faridabad police.
