Pune: Warje police have arrested four men — all residents of Warje and Shivane — for robbing a silver chain and forcing a 25-year-old man from Karvenagar to transfer Rs8,300 to their UPI app around 11.30pm on April 28 on the service road of Katraj-Dehu Road bypass.According to the police, the Karvenagar resident works with a private company’s accounts department. He created a profile on a dating app and befriended many people using the dating application. Police said that one of the four men has downloaded the dating app and he too contacts people using the app. “The suspects befriended with the Karvenagar resident and they all decided to meet on the service road of Katraj-Dehu Road bypass, near Dukkarkhind,” police said.“The suspects had beaten up the complainant with a stone, in which the complainant sustained head injuries. After issuing threats of dire consequences, the suspects stole his silver chain and also forced him to transfer Rs8,300 on their UPI app,” police said. “After recovering from his injuries, the complainant approached the police. Police studied the transfer of money using the UPI app and it revealed the phone number of the suspects and within hours, a police team arrested them,” police said.
