We extend support to Vijay’s TVK as we want to prevent imposition of President’s Rule in Tamil Nadu: VCK chief Thirumavalavan

CHENNAI: VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan on Saturday said his party is extending “unconditional support” to actor Vijay’s TVK to form the govt as it wants to prevent the imposition of President’s Rule in Tamil Nadu.He said, “We are going to extend support to TVK to uphold the people’s mandate. However, we continue our alliance with the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance.”

In a joint press meet, Thirumavalavan and CPI state secretary M Veerapandian condemned governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar’s refusal to meet TVK chief Vijay. They stated that the governor should respect the Constitution and the mandate of the people of Tamil Nadu. (The governor gave an appointment to Vijay later).“As I mentioned earlier, our party’s decision mirrors the CPI and CPM’s decision to extend support to TVK without participating in the govt. We are extending support to TVK to form the govt but are continuing in the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance,” Thirumavalavan said.He noted that they had conveyed their decision to DMK leader M K Stalin, who responded positively. Stalin reportedly made it clear that he would not be an obstacle to the formation of the new govt under TVK chief Vijay.
