Hyderabad: Former minister T Harish Rao alleged that HYDRAA, which was created to protect govt assets and remove land and lake encroachments, is only demolishing homes of the poor while turning a blind eye to big shots encroaching upon lakes.Hundreds of farmers who met the BRS leader at his residence complained of attacks by the real estate mafia and police harassment over the encroachment of 373 acres of govt land at Kasubagh Kanch in Balapur mandal of Ranga Reddy district. The farmers submitted to Harish Rao photographs and videos of razed fences, damaged agricultural boreholes and injuries suffered by farmers in the alleged attacks. After listening to the farmers’ grievances, Harish Rao spoke to senior officials and urged that strict action be taken against the encroachers.Harish Rao recalled that under KCR‘s leadership, the BRS govt had fought a legal battle up to the high court under the Land Ceiling Act to prevent encroachments in Nadergul. The current govt also filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court asserting that the lands belong to the govt. However, a conspiracy is underway to hand over these lands to private individuals under the protection of Congress leaders, Harish Rao alleged.
