Hyderabad: Alleging that the Congress govt’s failure to address the ongoing procurement crisis is pushing farmers towards distress, BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday said his party would fight relentlessly until farmers’ issues are resolved.Addressing the Rythu Sangrama Sabha in Warangal, KTR declared that BRS would not rest until every grain cultivated by farmers is procured. The meeting marked four years since the Congress’ farmers’ declaration in Warangal. He alleged that the promises made by Rahul Gandhi remained unfulfilled. “Not a single assurance has been implemented. Farmers have been betrayed,” he said.“Will you procure crops or face the backlash of 70 lakh farmers?” KTR asked, warning that delays would trigger intensified protests across Telangana. He cautioned the govt against underestimating farmers’ unity and awareness.Expressing concern over farmer distress, he said key promises, including farm loan waivers, financial assistance, crop bonuses and adequate fertiliser supply, remain unmet. He alleged the govt was delaying procurement to avoid paying bonuses.Urging farmers not to lose hope, KTR appealed to them to avoid extreme steps and instead hold the government accountable through collective action. He called on them to question elected representatives at the grassroots. He also criticised the Congress for promising Rs 50,000 crore loan waiver but delivering only a fraction. “Farmers were encouraged to take loans with assurances of waiver, only to be abandoned,” he said.KTR added that issues such as pending dues, fertiliser shortages and erratic power supply persist, while the govt focuses on events and publicity. Recalling the BRS regime, he said Telangana had once been a model in agriculture but is now slipping back into crisis. The Rythu Sangrama Sabha also passed several resolutions in support of farmers, intensifying pressure on the Congress govt to act without delay.
