Ahmedabad: A 27-year-old woman from Thaltej has accused her former boyfriend of rape, alleging that he had established a physical relationship with her on the fake promise of marriage.According to the FIR filed with Vastrapur police on Tuesday, the complainant, who works as a manager at a spa and salon in the Navrangpura area, has been living alone in a rented apartment in Thaltej for the past three years. She stated that she first came into contact with the accused around three years ago during a visit to a police station, following which they began communicating over the phone and developed a relationship.The complainant told police that the accused allegedly assured her that he would marry her. She claimed that the two met on multiple occasions, including at a hotel near Vastrapur lake in Feb 2024, where he first established physical relations with her. She further alleged that he continued to visit her residence frequently and maintained a physical relationship with her over a period of time.In July 2025, the two entered into a live-in arrangement after executing a mutual agreement, the complaint states. The accused also arranged accommodation for her in the same residential building, where he often stayed overnight.However, the woman alleged that over the past two months, the accused began avoiding her calls and communication. About a week ago, when she raised the issue of marriage, he allegedly refused and disconnected the call. Since then, he has not been responding to her attempts to contact him.Claiming that she was misled and exploited under the false promise of marriage, the woman approached Vastrapur police and lodged a complaint. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the allegations.
