Jaipur: A health dept team Wednesday inspected a biological firm in the RIICO Industrial Area of Bagru and found multiple violations related to labelling, licensing and quality compliance.Officials said labels on Multi Vitamin B Complex Syrup, Melatonin tablets and I Fist tablets carried registration numbers instead of the mandatory FSSAI licence numbers. On Glucose Plus Vitamin B and D2, Renadist Food Supplement and Pre Biotic capsules, the marketing firm’s food licence number was missing, in violation of the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011.Food safety commissioner Dr T Shubhmangala said the inspection revealed irregularities in labelling and product quality, including incorrect printing of registration numbers in place of licence numbers and absence of the marketing firm’s licence on some supplement labels. The manufacturer had also failed to get products tested every six months through an FSSAI-authorised laboratory. Officials further found that Vitamin B and sucralose used in manufacturing were sourced from China, though under the Food Safety and Standards (Import) Regulations, 2017, such ingredients must be procured through a licensed food importer. The team destroyed around 1,050kg of expired iodised salt during the inspection.Four samples were collected under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, including Liver Detox Auric, which carried a misleading liver detox claim, Glucose Plus Vitamin D, Plate-M syrup, which claimed to treat anaemia, weakness and platelet deficiency and was also flagged as misleading and Shri Shyam brand black salt.Further action will be taken after laboratory reports are received. The dept has issued a corrective notice to the unit under Section 32 of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
