New Delhi: When a 21-year-old travel company operator was offered “rejected bank notes” at a high exchange rate, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to make quick money. A deal sealed in outer Delhi’s Narela appeared profitable until he opened the packet and found 600 toy notes marked ‘Bharatiya Manoranjan Bank’ and ‘Children Bank of India – 500 Full of Fun’.What followed was a brief chase before the two accused were arrested. According to police, the Burari resident was first contacted on social media by a man named Jitender. He allegedly lured the victim with a fraudulent offer, promising Rs 3 lakh in return for an initial payment of Rs 50,000.On Monday, the man met Jitender near Mahipalpur and handed over Rs 50,000. Later, Jitender reportedly demanded another Rs 50,000 citing a medical emergency involving his mother. The final transaction took place near Singhu Border, where the complainant paid the remaining amount and was handed a sealed packet.Police said that when they confronted the accused, it led to a brief vehicular chase that caused minor damage to both vehicles. “A team from Narela police station nabbed Jitender and Sandeep, both 25 years old,” said DCP (outer north) Hareshwar Swami.Police have seized Rs 50,000 in cash, around 600 fake notes, a bag containing Rs 1.3 lakh and a car used in the crime. A case has been registered.
