Chennai: Police arrested a 35-year-old man on Tuesday for sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl on April 23.The girl’s mother, an IT professional, filed a complaint after she learnt about the incident from her daughter on Sunday. The incident occurred when the child was visiting her grandmother’s house for the summer holidays. She was playing when the accused’s wife asked her to fetch a mobile phone from the first-floor of their residence, police said. When the child entered the house, the accused, identified as D Dinesh, also known as Paambu Dinesh, sexually abused her, an officer said.Based on the complaint, the Royapuram all women police station registered a case under the Pocso Act. Dinesh was arrested on Tuesday, produced in front of a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody on Wednesday. Further investigation is underway.
