KOLKATA: A video from West Bengal has gone viral on social media showing a woman, who identified herself as a Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker, accusing BJP workers of assaulting her during a political clash. In the video, the woman is seen with a bandage wrapped around her head and claims she was brutally beaten by BJP supporters. However, the situation took a turn when a group of men confronted her on camera and questioned her claims. They then removed the bandage in public view.As the cloth came off, no visible injury was seen on her head. Earlier, violence erupted across West Bengal following the assembly poll results, leaving at least four people dead, several injured and party offices vandalised as clashes broke out between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and BJP workers in multiple districts overnight. Two deaths were reported in Kolkata within 24 hours. In Beleghata, 45-year-old Trinamool poll agent Biswajit Pattanaik was found injured outside his house after he reportedly stepped out following a phone call. Police suspect he was chased and fell while trying to escape across rooftops. However, his family alleged that he was dragged out of his home and assaulted.“They broke the door and assaulted him mercilessly. Neighbours were too scared to help,” a relative said. A murder probe is underway. BJP denied any role. “He fell on a tap. It broke and washed away his blood. That’s why family did not see blood at the spot, though he was bleeding from his nose and ears,” a policeman said.
