2 accused in bizman lynching case arrested after encounter

Varanasi: In a late-night encounter on Monday, Phulpur police arrested two more accused in the Manish Singh lynching case, taking the total number of arrests to six, while three still remain at large. Alongside, police also arrested four others for sheltering the accused in the case.According to DCP Gomti Zone, Neetu Kadian, the accused, Ashish Rajbhar and Manish Rajbhar, who carried a cash reward of Rs 50,000, were hiding in a dilapidated house in Kathi Kharka village, when teams of special operation group and Phulphur police cornered them.The duo fired at the police in a bid to escape and, in retaliatory firing, sustained bullet injuries in the legs, police said.On Apr 26, a 36-year-old businessman, Manish Singh was returning home from his factory, when his car hit a woman washing utensils along the road in Ghamahapur, after which her family members and neighbours lynched him.An FIR was lodged against nine persons in this connection. Initially, 4 accused — Manoj Prajapati, Harishchandra Rajbhar, Yogendra Prajapati, and Abhishek alias Buddhu were arrested.On May 3 police arrested five other people on the charges of sheltering the accused, who were absconding.
