Ahmedabad: Major fire services across Gujarat have ramped up preparations to handle the expected surge in emergency calls during Diwali. In Ahmedabad, all 18 fire stations will keep vehicles on high alert, deploying specialised motorcycles equipped with high-pressure mist machines to quickly navigate narrow city lanes and densely populated areas.

To minimise response times along major arterial corridors such as SG Highway, Sindhu Bhavan Road, and SP Ring Road, heavy water bowsers and dedicated quick-response teams will be stationed at strategic locations to immediately address potential blazes. Similar emergency response clusters and high-density deployment zones have been identified across other major cities including Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot to ensure rapid deployment and maximum coverage.
Diwali Dos and Don’ts
Fire officials confirmed that leave requests for key personnel have been restricted to maintain peak operational readiness. Throughout the festival, both the unified 112 emergency line and the traditional 101 fire helpline will remain fully operational 24/7 with extra dispatch operators on duty to handle the increased call volume without delay.
