Bathinda: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at seven premises linked to AAP’s Moga MLA Amandeep Kaur Arora and her family on Wednesday in connection with a money-laundering investigation into the alleged fraudulent acquisition and mutation of govt land and wrongful disbursement of compensation. The searches began in the early hours and covered Arora’s flat at Icon Heights on the Moga-Ludhiana road, her camp office-cum-residence on Dosanjh Road and properties linked to family members, associates and others. A de-addiction hospital associated with her husband, Dr Rakesh Arora, was also searched. ED teams were accompanied by armed CRPF personnel. The investigation stems from an FIR registered by Punjab Police in June 2024. It concerns alleged fraudulent mutation of government land acquired for National Highway 754A and wrongful disbursement of compensation in Moga district. The alleged irregularities also involve misappropriation of public funds, officials said.Arora, a doctor and state president of AAP’s women’s wing, was recently renominated from Moga in the party’s first list of 40 candidates for the upcoming Punjab assembly elections.AAP workers gathered outside her residence during the searches and raised slogans against the BJP, calling the ED action politically motivated. They alleged that the BJP was using central agencies to harass and defame AAP MLAs.The searches were continuing when this report was filed.
