Actor Tusshar Kapoor gets Rs 5 crore extortion threat from man claiming to be Harry Boxer; Mumbai crime branch rules out gangster’s involvement saying voice does not match his

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Tusshar Kapoor allegedly received an extortion threat demanding Rs 5 crore from a person claiming to be Harry Boxer, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. However, Mumbai Crime Branch has ruled out the involvement of Boxer, stating the voice in the threatening audio does not match his available voice samples.According to police sources, the actor’s team received an audio voice note last week in which the sender allegedly identified himself as Harry Boxer and demanded Rs 5 crore. The sender also issued threats to intimidate the actor. Senior police officials said the threat appeared to be an attempt by someone to exploit the fear surrounding the Bishnoi gang and extort money from Bollywood personalities. They suspect that an unidentified person may have impersonated the gang member or used artificial intelligence (AI) tools to create a voice resembling his.Tusshar has informally alerted Mumbai police about the threat. Following this, the police protection branch enhanced security for the actor as well as his sister, film producer Ekta Kapoor. Officials, though, declined to disclose the category of security provided to them.Although no first information report (FIR) has been registered so far, the probe has been handed over to Mumbai Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell. The recent firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff in Juhu on Oct 18, in which the Crime Branch arrested several accused, further heightened security concerns among Bollywood personalities.
