Majithia claims collusion, says AAP shielding drug case accused
SAD functionary Bikram Singh Majithia

Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) functionary Bikram Singh Majithia on Monday alleged that “AAP worker and senior office bearer in the Yudh Nashaen Virudh campaign, Lovepreet Singh, was successful in securing default bail because the Punjab Police did not present a challan in the 4.5-kilogram heroin recovery case in which he was arrested for six months”.Addressing a news conference here, Majithia said, “Intense pressure was put on the police to reduce the recovery to 4.5 kg following which the operation to free him from jail started.”Referring to the case in Amritsar Rural police district, Majithia claimed, “First the SHO who had arrested Lovepreet was transferred. Then the SSP delayed presenting the challan in the case.”The SAD functionary alleged, “The Punjab Police purposely sought an extension three days before the expiry of the 180 days to file the challan. Since these three days were holidays, the extension could not be granted, and Lovepreet secured default bail.”He also claimed, “The prosecution, when questioned by the court about its tardy approach, asserted that the delay was because the FSL report was pending in the case.”Training guns at chief minister Bhagwant Mann, who also holds the home portfolio, Majithia said, “Incidentally, the FSL also falls under the home minister.”He said, “This model was being replicated across the state.”Majithia said, “Watertight cases like the one against Lovepreet are being diluted, and crores of rupees are being passed on to the AAP leadership for this purpose.” “This is the reason why drug trade is increasing in the state.”Alleging selective use of bulldozers by the AAP govt, Majithia said, “Lovepreet’s properties were not seized till now because he is a blue-eyed boy of the chief minister.”He further claimed, “In direct contrast, the police plant drugs against its opponents and then catch them, as happened in Khanna. The incident was also caught on camera.”When contacted, Kanwalpreet Singh, SSP, Amritsar Rural, said, “The departmental inquiries have been initiated against the inquiry officer and the station house officer in this matter. The departmental inquiries were initiated soon after we learnt that the accused has been granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana high court.”
