Fake govt official made to apologise, video viral

Kota: A man posing as a government official to cheat villagers was forced to publicly apologise and made to lick a shoe sole after being caught in a village in Bundi district, police said. The incident came to light Sunday after a video of the incident went viral on social media.According to locals, the man identified as Manraj Prajapat, reached Kabri village under Hindoli police station area Saturday and introduced himself as a village development officer. After this, he allegedly lured the women with promises of benefits under government schemes, including houses under the PM Awas Yojana, and collected around Rs 2,000 from some of them.Villagers grew suspicious and confronted him, asking for his identity card. On being questioned, he allegedly confessed and returned the money.Following this, some villagers in order to teach him a lesson forced him to apologise publicly. They also made him fold his hands and touch feet, and compelled him to lick a shoe sole as seen in the 16- seconds viral video.Police have identified the person seen forcing the act as Lokesh Meena and have warned him against taking the law into his own hands. Circle inspector Mukesh Yadav said no FIR has been registered as neither side filed a complaint. Police said they are verifying whether the accused was involved in similar cheating incidents.
