Tamil Nadu election results: Stalin says he worked hard as CM beyond his strength

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin on Monday said his govt was not just for those who voted for him but also for people who didn’t vote for him. He said DMK, which has so far functioned as an exemplary ruling party for the people, would function as an exemplary opposition party. While thanking the voters for voting for the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), Stalin congratulated the winners. “In the past five years, we have created numerous projects and provided good governance to the people of Tamil Nadu. We have elevated Tamil Nadu in every way. In the electoral arena, we sought votes only by speaking of our achievements. I governed not just for those who voted, but also for those who forgot to vote,” Stalin stated in a post on X. DMK came second by winning around 60 seats. Stalin said he worked hard as a CM beyond his strength. “I have been true to all the people. I have acted according to my conscience. I have toiled beyond my strength,” he said. “To my beloved comrades of Kalaignar (former CM M Karunanidhi), who toiled in the field just as I did and who are inseparable from my soul, my deepest gratitude from the heart.”Stalin stated victories and defeats were part of public life. “In my political public life, I have seen great victories; I have also faced defeats. I am one who acts with the understanding that ideals and policies are what matter most, not just victories and defeats. The political journey of DMK will continue without faltering,” Stalin stated.
