Three arrested with 133 fake 500 notes in Bapunagar

Ahmedabad: A team from the city crime branch’s Special Operation Group has arrested three persons with 133 counterfeit Rs 500 notes notes and printed sheets during a late-night raid in Bapunagar.SOG officials, in a statement, said that the three arrested are Bhavesh Makwana, 28, of Bapunagar; Anil Ashwar, 31, of Krishnanagar; and Jitendra Prajapati, 43, of Vatva.According to the complaint filed by head constable Jayrajsinh Vikramsinh, the SOG received a tip-off on Monday that two men had brought counterfeit Indian currency from outside and were staying at the house of their associate, Makwana, in Bapunagar. The trio was allegedly cutting printed sheets of fake Rs 500 notes for circulation when the team raided the house.Cops recovered printed sheets of counterfeit currency, wooden boards, cutters, scissors and other tools allegedly used in making the fake notes. Preliminary examination by a scientific officer confirmed that the seized notes appeared to be counterfeit. Makwana has three cases, including a murder, registered against him, while the other two have five cases of gambling and other offences registered against them.
