Chandigarh: With cybercriminals increasingly using new methods to target senior citizens, retirees and Veterans, experts from the police, military and civilian organisations discussed practical ways to stay safe online at a cyber security awareness session in Chandigarh on Tuesday.The session, organised by Gyan Setu Think Tank under the aegis of Chandigarh Citizens Foundation at MGSIPA, Sector 26, also focused on the growing role of artificial intelligence in everyday life and emerging digital security challenges.Former Chief of Army Staff Gen VP Malik (retd) attended the event, while Lt Gen (Dr) KJ Singh (retd), former Army Commander, delivered the keynote address.Experts discussed cyber fraud trends and simplified digital protection measures, with a particular focus on threats faced by senior citizens, retirees and veterans.The programme was the fourth such session organised for veterans and the 10th in the think tank’s continuing ‘Cyber Secured Citizens’ series. The organisation has earlier conducted awareness programmes at universities, colleges and residents’ welfare associations.
