Seven multi-storey buildings sealed, illegal structure razed in Gurgaon Sector 72
A bulldozer was deployed to demolish the structure that was still under construction

Gurgaon: Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) on Tuesday sealed seven multi-storey buildings and demolished an under-construction structure in an unauthorised colony in Sector 72 as part of its crackdown on illegal construction. The enforcement drive was carried out by a team led by district town planner (enforcement) Amit Madholia. While the seven buildings were sealed during the operation, a bulldozer was deployed to demolish the structure that was still under construction. The department is now preparing to demolish four floors of each of the seven sealed buildings, with the necessary paperwork being completed before the action can proceed. “We are completing the paperwork to demolish the four floors of each of these seven buildings. Once the process is complete, bulldozers will be deployed to carry out the demolition,” Madholia said.No timeline for the proposed demolition of the seven buildings was announced on Tuesday. The latest action signals an expansion of the department’s enforcement drive beyond licensed colonies, where unauthorised construction and violations of building norms have been the focus of several recent actions. Complaints of increased construction activity in unauthorised colonies have also surfaced in recent months.Officials said large-scale construction had taken place in the unauthorised colony without the required approvals. The structures under scrutiny include buildings with stilt parking and four floors above it. The proposed action against the existing buildings is expected to be taken up after the necessary formalities are completed.Madholia said the department would continue action against unauthorised construction in illegal colonies, with enforcement teams targeting structures found to be in violation of applicable rules. The drive comes amid heightened scrutiny of building violations in Gurgaon, including cases involving unauthorised floors, misuse of stilt parking and construction in areas where development permissions are not available.
