BJP demands Kharge’s apology for his remarks against PM’s father
Himachal BJP president Rajeev Bindal

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh BJP president Dr Rajeev Bindal on Monday condemned the alleged derogatory remarks made by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s father and sought a public apology. The state BJP chief said political differences were an integral part of democracy. Still, personal attacks against family members, particularly someone’s deceased father, go against Indian cultural values and democratic traditions. He said Modi had dedicated his life to serving the nation and society, adding that insulting his family was unacceptable. Political leaders can disagree over policies and governance, but they should maintain dignity and civility in public discourse, Bindal added.Accusing the Congress of resorting to personal attacks out of frustration over electoral defeats, he alleged that the party’s leadership was attempting to create bitterness and hostility instead of accepting responsibility for its shortcomings.“The BJP condemns such remarks in the strongest possible terms. Political opposition is acceptable in a democracy, but personal insults against family members have no place in civilised political discourse,” Bindal said.He also expressed concern over alleged discussions about creating Bangladesh-like political conditions in India, emphasising that political differences must be resolved through constitutional and democratic processes rather than confrontation or instability. The BJP functionary said India was a vibrant democracy whose people would not accept attempts to undermine constitutional values and democratic institutions.Bindal maintained that personal criticism and abusive language would neither weaken BJP workers’ resolve nor divert the party from its commitment to development and public welfare.Seeking an apology from Kharge, Bindal urged political parties to uphold democratic traditions, respect constitutional institutions and ensure dignity in public debate.
