Dibrugarh: While fate of the six Dibrugarh assembly seats — Dibrugarh, Chabua-Lahowal, Duliajan, Tingkhong, Naharkatia and Khowang — will be decided on Monday, the district administration has enforced a prohibitory order, under Section 163 of the BNSS, 2023, earmarking a 100m area around the counting centre at Lahowal’s Polytechnic campus, barring public gathering and car parking.The order, which which will come into effect from 5 am on Monday till the conclusion of the counting, will see only authorised personnel, with valid ID cards, enter the 100m demarcated area.Furthermore, carrying weapons, setting up of loudspeakers and temporary stalls and victory processions and rallies have been banned. The administration has also imposed a blanket ban on firecrackers across the district. Any violations, as per the order, will lead to subsequent actions under relevant sections of the BNSS, 2023.However, no restriction on movement of public vehicles have been imposed by the district administration, with a district official confirming that buses and other forms of public transport will operate normally across Dibrugarh.“Daily life will not be affected across the city. Public transport and shops will function normally. We only urge residents to stay away from the counting centre area unless they have valid authorisation,” the official said.
