LUCKNOW: From a voter named “Ram Ne Sharma Ko Mara” to another whose father’s name is recorded as “B Com”, a series of bizarre entries in the 2026 electoral roll for the Allahabad-Jhansi Graduates’ constituency has raised questions over the accuracy and verification of voter records.Voter slips and entries read by TOI from the final electoral roll show names and parental details that appear unusual, erroneous and fictitious.

One entry identifies a voter as ‘Ravi Sharma’, with his father’s name recorded as “Ram Ne Sharma Ko Mara” (Ram beat Sharma). Another lists “Ram Ne Yadav Ko Mara” (Ram beat Yadav), with Murkh Chandra Yadav as the father. In another case, a voter named Narendra Yadav has “B Com” recorded as his father’s name, apparently referring to an academic qualification rather than a person.Other peculiar entries include Faiz Abbas Ne Kaha, whose father is listed as Syed Jabbar Hussain, and Irfan Ali Ne Kaha, whose father is recorded as Syed Irfan Ali.The list also features Murkh Kali Devi, whose father’s name is recorded as Ramjeet Patel, despite the voter being classified as male.Another entry identifies Mohammad Pagal Rehan, son of Mohammad Hashim, while a voter named Takkar Marna has the identical words recorded as his father’s name.Meanwhile speaking to TOI, Chief Electoral officer Uttar Pradesh, Navdeep Rinwa said, “Yes prima facia there seems to be issue. ERO of the particular MLC constituency is divisional vommissioner Jhansi and I have asked him to give report by Thursday.”
