Panaji: Fresh allegations of forgery and irregular land allotments in Socorro have sparked demands for a special investigation team (SIT) probe into suspected irregularities involving Serula comunidade properties, with growing calls for an impartial investigation.The attorney of the Serula comunidade, Peter Martins, filed a complaint on Oct 1 with Porvorim police alleging that documents were allegedly forged or fraudulently used to claim rights over plots in survey no. 362/1 at Socorro. The larger property, known as Ambirna or Fotkirem, reportedly measures 1.8 lakh sqm.The comunidade members have demanded that govt constitute a SIT to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the alleged land fraud in Socorro and examine any connected irregularities involving Serula comunidade land.In his complaint, Martins alleged that Rajesh Savaikar and Roshni Savaikar claimed comunidade plots without following the prescribed allotment procedures.Porvorim police registered an FIR on Oct 5 naming the couple and other unidentified persons as accused. According to the FIR, the perpetrators used forgery, forged documents and cheated the comunidade. The allegations remain subject to police investigation.The Serula comunidade wants authorities and an SIT to verify all the documents and records connected with the disputed allotments. It also seeks examination of the original documents and forensic analysis wherever necessary to determine whether the prescribed procedures were followed.The latest case has renewed attention on earlier allegations, including the May 2025 arrest of Vithu Nagvekar by the Land Grab SIT in connection with an alleged fraudulent mutation and possession case involving 69,675sqm across Socorro, as well as the separate case involving Sandeep Vazarkar, in connection with an alleged Serula comunidade land-grabbing case.
