What hope we may keep after killing of a jhota, how the other Jhota may get justice: Balkaur Singh

Mansa: Slain singer Sidhu Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh on Tuesday expressed doubts over whether a CBI probe into the killing of anti-drug activist Parminder Singh Jhota would deliver justice, citing his own experience of waiting for action despite assurances from Union home minister Amit Shah.Participating in a protest in Mansa after returning from Canada, Balkaur Singh said Shah had met him more than three years ago and assured him of a CBI investigation and action against gangsters, but nothing had changed. “As it is election time now in Punjab, Parminder’s family may get some relief, but going by my own past experience, I am not much hopeful,” he said.Referring to gangsters lodged in Sabarmati jail, he alleged that they continued to operate their networks and that their activities had not stopped despite being in custody. “What hope may we keep that after the killing of a Jhota (Sidhu Moosewala, who used to call himself Jhota in his songs), the other Jhota (Parminder Singh) may get justice?” he said.Balkaur Singh returned from Canada on Monday after postponing the hologram tour, Signed to God. He also alleged that drugs remained easily available in Punjab and said a sincere investigation would expose those profiting from the illegal trade.
